Around the World: The Best Family Destinations – Part 2

Let’s continue… The second part of our journey around the globe starts now. Today, more colleagues from around the world are sharing their favorite family destinations in their regions. Enjoy discovering them!

Dao from Pepperl+Fuchs in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Saigon Centre (Takashimaya) is one of my favorite places for a day trip because it offers a comfortable indoor space right in the heart of the city. A highlight is visiting the CGV cinema inside the shopping mall, where we watch films together. Afterwards, we enjoy relaxing at various restaurants and cafés and try a mix of local and international cuisine. We also like to visit the Cần Giờ Mangrove Biosphere Reserve when we need a break from the busy city life. It is a peaceful natural area with mangrove forests and diverse wildlife. We often explore the surroundings there, see monkeys, and learn more about the coastal ecosystem. The Suối Tiên Theme Park is a great place when we want to spend an active family day. The Park offers many themed attractions and rides for different age groups. My family especially likes it because it combines entertainment with cultural elements, making it exciting and memorable for the whole family.

Mayumi from Pepperl+Fuchs in Yokohama, Japan

I am pleased to introduce a few excursion destinations in Yokohama. One well-known landmark of the city is Yokohama Stadium, where the baseball team Yokohama DeNA BayStars plays around 70 home games each year. However, it is more than just a stadium — you can enjoy excellent food and drinks there, and there is even a children’s play area. This makes it a true ballpark where all generations can spend a wonderful time together. The free Nogeyama Zoo is located right in the center of Yokohama. It is home to around 80–100 animal species and also offers hands-on encounters with small animals. Thanks to its hillside location and easy accessibility, it is a charming place where families can enjoy wildlife without leaving the city. And there is also the Hamagin Children’s Space Science Center. It is an interactive, space-themed science museum where children can explore physics, astronomy, and experiments through playful, hands-on exhibits. The building is designed like a giant spaceship, with themed floors featuring activities such as moon jump simulators and experiments with light and electricity. It also includes a large, immersive planetarium. I actually visited it myself as a child, so it is especially meaningful for me to introduce this place now.

Jennie from Pepperl+Fuchs in Katy, USA

Since my children are now already of college age, I am referring to places for family destinations that I still remember from earlier times. When our children were younger, we enjoyed going on cycling trips together in various areas of the greater Houston region, for example in Memorial Park or in Sam Houston National Forest. As the children got older, we spent a lot of time together in local cafés, where we had wonderful conversations over a cup of coffee. There are also many of these in the area. Now that we are preparing for the time when the children will move out, my husband and I enjoy our quiet evening walks around the lakes in our neighborhood.

Nina from Aava Mobile Oy in Oulu, Finland

For me, the most beautiful family outings are the simple ones — being outdoors in the fresh air, without any rush. Ylläs is a place we always enjoy returning to as a family, and where everyday life quickly fades away. In winter, we love downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, and sledding there. The snow makes the whole area feel truly magical. In the warmer months, we enjoy hiking and cycling. From Oulu, you can reach nature very quickly. One of our favorite activities is simply going on a bike ride in the forest. The trails are very family-friendly, and it is an easy way to spend time together — no big planning needed, just hop on the bikes and go. A visit to Hailuoto Island always feels like a little adventure. The ferry ride is something our child especially enjoys, and once we arrive, there is plenty of space to explore, play, and relax. I especially love the wide landscapes and the peaceful atmosphere — a perfect little escape from everyday life.

Clara from Pepperl+Fuchs in Bellusco, Italy

My three favorite family destinations in my region with my 2- and 4-year-old children are: Lake Como. I love it because it offers a perfect mix of nature, relaxation, and beautiful villages. It is ideal for family outings, boat trips, and enjoying the amazing views together. The town of Bormio is an ideal destination both in winter and summer. Families can enjoy the mountains, thermal baths, outdoor activities, and the fresh air in a very peaceful atmosphere. And Parco di Monza is also a wonderful place for families to relax and spend time outdoors. The park is perfect for walking, cycling, or having picnics, and it offers a peaceful escape very close to the city.

Aisyah from Pepperl+Fuchs in Bintan

The close proximity to our home makes Sakera Beach a wonderful choice for us. Going to the beach with our little child is a great way to strengthen the bond between parent and child, while also encouraging motor skill development through simple activities like playing in the sand. Another highlight for us is Safari Lagoi, a rescue and conservation center for endangered Indonesian wildlife. It is an educational place where families can explore nature and learn more about wildlife. Lastly, I would like to mention the Rumah Bazar Playground. Although it is not a typical tourist destination, it has become our favorite place to relax. As a working mother, spending quality time painting and playing together there is especially meaningful for us.

Rita from Pepperl+Fuchs in Bintan

A beautiful beach on Bintan is Treasure Bay. It is very popular with families because children can swim in the shallow water and build sandcastles there. Another highlight for us is Borobudur Temple in Central Java. It is a destination where children can learn about history, traditions, and the values of past civilizations. The detailed reliefs and the peaceful surroundings create a perfect atmosphere for reflection and meaningful family time together. Anyone who loves nature should visit Mount Lawu in Central Java. From hiking and exploring the forest to simple picnics, the cool climate makes learning about nature a special and enjoyable experience for the whole family.

Neville from Pepperl+Fuchs in Johannesburg, South Africa

One of our favorite places is Gold Reef City. There you’ll find an amusement park, a bowling alley, a cinema, as well as a wide selection of excellent restaurants. The children usually can barely make it past 3 p.m., as they quickly become exhausted from all the rides in the amusement park! Another highlight for us is Rietvlei Zoo Farm. There is a beautiful walking trail that we regularly enjoy. Afterwards, we like to have a relaxed and very good breakfast there. However, our absolute family favorite is Emerald Aquadome. It is an air-conditioned indoor water park with heated pools and water slides for children. In addition, there are numerous pubs and restaurants – a perfect family day-out destination at any time of the year.

Combined summary from the colleagues at Pepperl+Fuchs in Veszprém, Hungary

We are very fortunate here in Veszprém to have many interesting family destinations nearby. These include Lake Balaton (such as Tihany and Badacsony) as well as the Bakony Mountains. Several cycling routes start from Veszprém and lead in different directions to these attractions. Visitors can enjoy boating, and in summer there are plenty of events and festivals. The surrounding area is home to many old castle ruins, and several restored castles offer organized programs for children, allowing them to have fun while also learning about history. The Danube Bend is also not far away, where people can go cycling, hiking, and rowing.
