Data meets creativity: What a marketing analyst does

Daniel is something of a “marketing jack-of-all-trades” at Pepperl+Fuchs in Mexico. Since November 2022, he has been the contact person for all marketing activities of Pepperl+Fuchs in Mexico and Latin America and takes care of the planning and implementation of a wide range of marketing measures.

Daniel, could you give us an insight into your area of responsibility?
My tasks cover almost all areas of marketing. I plan and create digital content, such as posts, videos, and photos for our social media channels like LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube. I also organize events such as trade fairs and take care of translating all Pepperl+Fuchs advertising and sales materials into Spanish. In addition, I manage the country pages of Mexico and Latin America on the Pepperl+Fuchs corporate website, develop and implement email campaigns. Last but not least, I’m responsible for measuring and evaluating the success of our marketing activities using specific key performance indicators. For example, I analyze views, interactions, and engagement of our Latin American social media posts. Or I track the number of contacts reached in email campaigns, as well as open, click and bounce rates. Since my tasks are so diverse, there’s actually no typical working day for me. However, my working day always starts with a cup of coffee – and then I’m ready to go.

Taking responsibility as a marketing analyst

What do you like most about your job?
What I like most is being able to exchange ideas with people from different countries and cultures and being able to communicate in English. I appreciate working for an international company. What I enjoy the most is working with colleagues from all over the world.

What is important in your job?
In my opinion, the most important thing is to be aware of the responsibility that comes with this job and to take it on. You should know that some of your colleagues‘ work depends partly on you. For example, colleagues from the sales department cannot pass on advertising and sales brochures to customers or display them at trade fairs if I haven’t finished the materials on time. This feeling of being an important part of the process motivates me to stay organized and meet deadlines. Managing several tasks at the same time can often be challenging, which is why good time management is essential in this job.

What qualities are required for this job as a marketing analyst?
In addition to solid marketing knowledge, I think that soft skills such as teamwork and problem-solving abilities are essential. You should also be open-minded and willing to embrace new things. Sometimes a bit of courage is also needed – for example, when I have to grab the microphone at an event and speak to the audience.

Full commitment and time for oneself

Every Saturday, Daniel pursues his greatest hobby, singing.

What has been your biggest challenge at Pepperl+Fuchs so far?
This year, I was responsible for organizing two exclusive events for Pepperl+Fuchs, one in Colombia and one in Argentina. At first, I organized and coordinated both events from my office in Mexico and then traveled to the respective locations abroad shortly before they took place. One major challenge for me was ensuring that everything ran smoothly – especially since I was hardly on-site. That’s why I’m all the more proud that everything worked out.

What do you like to do in your free time?
To relax and clear my mind, I practice yoga and mediate before going to bed. In addition, I go the gym three to four times a week. My workouts usually last about an hour and include running, climbing stairs, sit-ups and lifting weights. Besides sports, my biggest hobby is singing. I take singing lessons every Saturday afternoon and also enjoy performing musical theater. Getting to know and master my voice as an instrument has not only improved my singing but also given me greater self-confidence in life.
