On June 17, 2025, the Environment, Health, & Safety (EHS) team at the Pepperl+Fuchs site in Singapore launched the six-month “Adopt A Green Buddy” campaign. Thanks to the commitment of numerous employees, the canteen has been transformed into a lively, green oasis – to greater well-being in the workplace.
The idea came quite naturally: “We noticed that many employees enjoy having plants, some even keep them on their desks. This inspired us to launch the “Adopt A Green Buddy” campaign, explains Li Kai, EHS Engineer at Pepperl+Fuchs in Singapore. The goal of the initiative is to give all employees the opportunity to adopt a potted plant and then take care of it over six months, thereby cultivating a “green friend.” It is also possible for a department to take care of a larger plant. “With this campaign, we are creating a very special atmosphere in the canteen and, together, contributing to greater well-being in the workplace. And the first step was simple – deciding to care for a small green friend,” Li Kai continues.

On June 17, employees were able to choose their potted plants, label them with their names, and then place them on the canteen table provided for this purpose. Until mid-December, they will now ensure that their “green friend” remains healthy. This includes regularly watering and trimming the plant. The response to the campaign has been overwhelmingly positive. More than 131 small and 26 large potted plants have been adopted and placed in the canteen. “We have already received great feedback over the past few months. Many colleagues tell us that the plants give the canteen a more vibrant feel. Others report that caring for the plant helps them relax and gives them a new sense of responsibility when taking care of their new friend at work,” Li Kai adds. At the end of the six months, the “Greenest Buddy Award” will be presented – an award for the best-cared-for plant.
